Subject: Meloneras Blues CD
Hi Gerry
Thank you so much for your album! With a dedication added! From now, I shall consider it as a "collector". It will definitely take a very special place on my desk, believe me.
I listened to it, and listened again, and again ... Same delight every time! You asked me for giving you my impression. Well, it could be summerized in only one word: FANTASTIC. You are a genius: melting a lot of influences such a way, picking up just what it needs to elaborate your own guitar-playing style (a spoonfull from Gary Moore, a pinch from Carlos Santana, I guess ?), nice recipe to back up your voice that I would qualify as unique (still non-smoker and drinking iced water, as before ?). Really, listening at the tunes while closing my eyes, I found myself in the Shamrock Bar again ... and thought that I'd better throw my guitars to ashes and go back to gardenning, or even to housekeeping!!
I also read the booklet, and could not hold back laughing. Hey, you were playing several guitars, bass-guitar as well, and even keyboard!! I imagine you, looking like this famous Hindi godess, the one who's got so many pairs of arms. All right, from now, to me, your name would not be Gerard Patrick Lane: I'll call you GERRY "Shivah" LANE ... So, let me stop joking! By the way, I really like the "twanging" sound of your guitar, is it due to the Texas Special microphone pack? (I checked your website, too).
Lack of high-leveled knowledge, I had to download and print the lyrics, in order to try to feel what your own feelings were when you wrote... and that was a total success: simple and daily words springing from the bottom of your heart, your guitars, in turn, either desperately crying, or hopefully fusing, using most of the time basic chords; it's great!! Simple and terribly efficient!
I can't say which of your songs pleases me best, because every one "talks" to me, to my heart and to my brain as well.
People in France shall know who you are and what you do, and I would like to help you this way: in my village, there is a local radio station broadcasting Blues music every Monday at 18.00 during one hour. Would you, please, give me authorization to introduce your album and provide information about yourself? Thre is also a bigger radio station which covers the region.
Hey, take it easy, mate! I'm not trying to become your agent!
I also checked "I've cried the blues (for NY city)" on reverbnation.com, and you may consider your next album as already ordered! I had a look at the videos on the various sites, that's great! Not the same place, but the same spirit! Keep on doing it as long as possible, Gerry.

Subject: Meloneras Blues CD
Hi there Gerry,
thank you very much for your CD "Meloneras Blues".
I have listened to it many times while i was sitting in the garden or working in my office.
Some words about my favourites:
- Meloneras Blues has a very cool groove and i like the lyrics ("Down in the hole...you can meet some people there...")
- Dangerous Times would surely become a hit if it was performed by some famous actor. Very nice songwriting man!
- On the song Living on a line i can find very much of Mark Knopfler (Have you ever heared his LP "Sailing to Philadelphia"? He couldn't do it better than you on that track). I'm talking just about the guitarwork because I think Mark is a horrible singer. You are ten times better...
- A man without the blues is a man without soul - true, what else should i say! This is one of these songs that makes you feel cool just by listening to it.
- Para Ti has a nice and memorable hookline. In one part you sound a bite like Gary Moore on "Spanish Guitar" or "Empty Rooms" - nice instrumental!
All in all the guitar sound and the singing is great! Thanks again for that present.
Hope that i can manage coming to Gran Canaria again soon (maybe for a little jam in The Hole!)
Please give me your postal adress that i can send you our new CD "The Tennessee Straight Love Connection".
Greetings from my parents and Maria
Best wishes,
Julian / Luis
